HIPPA ISLAND | SEASON END REPORT

2017

Looking back on the 2017 season, I can reflect on some of the reasons that bring me back to this amazing location year after year. I will never forget the memories made and the fish stories that will be repeated for a lifetime. From greeting every guest upon arrival to our very last guest departing, not a minute goes by without nature demonstrating its incredible force.

Earlier this season, a pod of Orca’s put on a spectacular show of nature out at Calm Rock, working their way through the kelp beds. Humpback whales could be heard breeching from miles away. On calm sunny days, many of our guests we’re treated to witnessing the graceful almost slow-motion leap!

Chinook salmon fishing treated us well this year, compared to various locations on the coast. The area is definitely a world class salmon fishing destination andcontinues to prove it each year. Our top anglers this season shared the honors with Ken Pickard and George Galicz both bringing in 47lb chinook to the dock. Great work guys!

Halibut fishing here has always produced some real trophies. Looking for rock piles with gently sloping flats surrounding them is key to finding the ones you want. Many hours have been spent hunting halibut in this way and with a bit of patience results are almost always guaranteed.

As our lodges are packed up and put away for the winter, the work never stops in the office! New and exciting getaways are always being created. In 2017, we had an assortment of different groups joining us at the lodge, all with great reviews! The 12 North Tournament hosted by Seattle Seahawks Tight End Luke Willson and the coho derby hosted by Tom Nelson from TheOutdoor Line will not be soon forgotten! We highly encourage that you give our fanastic sales team a call and they will fill you in on these and other new exciting events coming to the lodge in 2018!

Until then, on behalf of the crew from the Lodge at Hippa Island, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who made this year a success. It is truly an amazing process to see everyone on the lodge working together to create memories that last a lifetime. We look forward to inviting you to our piece of paradise in 2018.

Take care and I hope to have the opportunity you see you all again next year.

Thank you,
