HIPPA ISLAND | WEEKLY FISHING REPORT

2017

With the Salmon masters Tournament complete we are well into the 2017 season here at Hippa.

This years tournament was a complete sucess and what a great competition it was! Englefield took the grand prize this year, but look out we are set to take it back in 2018!

Our top money winers Erik and Julie Lynum walked away with close to  $65,000. Eriks 43lb beauty was the top fish between the two lodges and payed out accordingly in day and trip prizes here.

As we move on, fishing has been excellent with anglers enjoying multiple fish days and sore arms!

The west side of Hippa has been most productive for chinook salmon in the 16-20 lb range with some larger ones mixed in too.

Skelu bay or “the Bahamas” gives us shelter and calm water to fish in when the wind picks up. Nice halibut are trolled up in the back corner most days giving us a place to catch both Salmon and bottom fish in one of the most beautiful setting in our fishing area.

Halibut fishing is heating up now with “turkey” sized halis coming from the 257 hump on a regular basis.

Flamingo rock area has seen some great fishing for flat ones as well in the last day or so. The fleet will be heading that way this morning, stay tuned!

Looking forward to the coming weeks and greeting our long time and new guests. See you soon!

Take care and tight lines,
